Playbill Bio Submission Form

In an effort to standardize the bio submission process and make sure that everyone gets the same instructions, please use this form to submit your bio for the playbill.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR BIO IN THE PLAYBILL
  1. All cast members, designers, and production leads are welcome to have a bio in the playbill.
  2. The size of the cast and crew determines the number of pages in the playbill.  The playbill editor, working with the production team (producer/director), is allowed to edit bios for space reasons. Edits will include changing local theatre names to acronyms.
  3. As a community theater, your prior/recent stage credits (including awards/nominations) should be the focus of your bio, but we welcome bios that provide the audience with additional information about your off-stage life (family/work/education/causes/life events/next show).
  4. Humorous bios are fine as long as the whole audience understands the joke.
  5. ESP gently discourages (and may edit) all "Secret Codes" and excessive adulation on the support of friends, family and other cast/crew.  Please remember, you are writing a bio for the 1000 people in the audience that don't know you. If you desire to thank others in your bio, limit it to one short sentence.
  6. Around the beginning of tech week, the playbill editor will try to provide the producer/director/stage manager with a final draft of the playbill for your review and sign-off.
    1. Please take some time to thoroughly proof-read your bio
    2. Confirm that any edits made to your bio are acceptable to you (list any change requests)
    3. Check that your name is spelled and attributed correctly throughout the playbill (remember to check the cast/crew page as well as your bio).
    4. Are the acronyms in your bio listed correctly in the acronym guide at the back of the playbill?
  7. If you do not want a bio in the playbill, please fill out this form and simply tell us that.  Please be aware, if you are in the cast, we may still list your name and photo in the playbill albeit without a bio per your request.
  8. Headshots - we prefer to have "recent" and similar production headshot photos in the playbill rather than a random collection of professionally produced headshots.
  9. ESP participates in the WATCH adjudication process, so to assist judges we edit our playbills in accordance with the guidelines provided by WATCH.  Crew titles and production elements are listed according to those guidelines. (www.washingtontheater.org)
