Audition Preparation: Please come with a prepared song (preferably not from the show) 16-32 bars and come dressed to dance.

Side Show is based loosely on the life of Vaudeville stars Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins linked at the hip, the twins lived out their colorful but turbulent lives on the Depression-era Vaudeville stage. The sisters negotiated the pitfalls of fame and romantic entanglement while attempting to lead two very different lives in one body. Side Show combines an enchanting score by DreamGirls composer Henry Krieger and poignant, emotionally wrought lyrics by Bill Russell. The opera-like show will reach to the very core of human nature.

Character Descriptions:

Daisy & Violet: Siamese twins - looking for love, fame and happiness against all odds. Low E to high G
Buddy: aspiring musician - falls in love with Violet. Low G to high C (can be flexible on this top note)
Terry: talent scout for the Orpheum circuit; falls in love with Daisy. Low G to high G
Jake: twins friend and protector - African-American; also plays the Cannibal King in the freakshow. Low B to high G
Boss: boss of the freakshow (sideshow). C to high B-flat
Ensemble: freaks/vaudeville performers/reporters. Male and Female, all vocal ranges needed; the ensemble sings A LOT, with many solo opportunities.
Total cast - looking for approximately 20 people.

The production runs July 27 - August 18, 2007.

The Elden Street Players (ESP) is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit, community theater. All roles are volunteer positions and un-paid.
