The Weir
Auditions
ABOUT THE PLAY
It's a windy night in a small pub in rural Ireland. Pub owner Brendon is
not surprised to see the regulars, Jack, Jim and Finbar, come and settle in
for a few pints. Tonight however, they are joined by Valerie, a Dublin woman
moving away from the city who just bought a house from Finbar. The men begin
to tell Valerie that the house is haunted, and they all settle down in the pub
to tell stories of ghosts and fairies, spinning yarns in the old Irish
tradition. But it is Valerie's story that brings them all back to earth with a
sudden lurch. Not just a series of ghost stories, The Weir is fascinating
exploration of community, friendship, and support through adversity.
