Rob Batarla (Kastril), last seen as "Starvling" in TAP's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, is making his Elden Street Players debut. Other favorite roles include "Christopher Wren" in The Mousetrap and "Christopher" in Breaking the Code. Rob is a Certified Public Accountant and the Controller of AtlantiCare, Inc. in Tysons Corner. He would like to thank his friends, family, and beautiful wife, Beth, for coming out to see the show.
Deryl Davis (Face) is pleased to make his Washington area debut in The Alchemist. He and his wife recently moved to D.C. from New York City Credits include The Real Inspector Hound ("Hound/Magnus Muldoon"), Death of a Salesman ("Bernard"), Dracula ("Renfield"), Lady Windermere's Fan ("Dumby"), and others. Deryl is Religion Editor of the PBS program Religion & Ethics Newsweekly.
Colleen Estep (Dol Common) is excited to be making her debut with ESP.
Area patrons also saw her in the NVTA One Act Festival as "Lindsey" in
RCP's Domestic Companion. A special thanks to her husband, John, for all
his love and support.
Matthew Fielder (Dapper) - According to our sources, Matthew is your atypical 18 year old human male. Though he communicates only through grunts and flailing of limbs, he is believed to be very happy working with the Elden Street Players. His last role was "Lennie" in Of Mice and Men (ESP). He played "Sir Toby Belch" in a high school production of Twelfth Night. Last year, he taught a small improvisational theater group, also with his school.
Maggie Geuting (Anannias) is glad to be returning to the Industrial Strength Theatre after a several year absence. She was last seen here in her favorite part to date, "Mrs. Lovett" in Sweeney Todd. She has been busy, however, with a few other groups. She is happy to be working with Adam and crew again. It is always a joy, in spite of having to learn verse. Thanks to Tom for all his help, support and love.
Ed Glick (Mammon) was not, as rumoured, in the original production of this play He has directed or appeared in 10 previous ESP productions. He was last seen on our stage as "Prof. Willard" in Our Town. His favorite role was as "Da" in Da. Ed and his wife Betty have been in the antiques business in Leesburg as "Lake Anne-tiques" for the past 25 years.
Vanessa Knight (Dame Pliant/Neighbor) is making her first appearance with ESP on stage, she has helped backstage a number of times and enjoyed the parties afterwards. Vanessa has been on stage many times, including Shakespeare, various musicals and an English Panto. Vanessa also enjoys drawing, painting and training her two horses whenever she has the time.
J. P Lopez (Surly) is excited to be making his debut at ESP after spending the summer in San Francisco studying acting at ACT. He is a Yankee that has returned home after spending 4 years in New Orleans musical theater scene. Recent roles included "Cinderella's Prince" in Into the Woods and "Harry the Horse" in Guys and Dolls. He would like to thank his family for always supporting him, especially in his myriad of career changes.
Melissa Miller (Tribulation Wholesome) is pleased to be working with the great cast and crew at the Industrial Strength Theater. A newcomer to the Elden Street Players, but no newcomer to theater, her favorite roles include "Roxanne" in Cyrano, "Clear Glass Marbles" in Talking With... ,and "Mrs. VanDam" in The Diary ofAnne Frank. In her "other" life, she is a nurse/ attorney, working for a healthcare consulting firm. She wants to thank her great husband for all his support.
Al Myska (Subtle) - This is Al's stage debut with Elden Street Players, although he has worked with them on several productions backstage. Al is an actor/combatant and a member of the Society of American Fight Directors and is also a founding member of the Noble Blades stage combat troupe. He has worked with many theatre groups throughout the area as a fight choreographer. This fall Al appeared at the Maryland Renaissance Festival as "Thomas Cromwell." He has also played such roles as "Guy of Gisbourne" in Robin Hood and "Verges" in Much Ado About Nothing and has appeared as a stage combatant with the Washington Opera. Non nobis.
Steven Rosenthal (Drugger/Neighbor) is happy to be making his 7th appearance with the Elden Street Players. Previous performances include "King Alonso" in The Tempest, "Maecenas" in Antony and Cleopatra, "Army Hakes" in Requiem for a Heavyweight (directed by Ed Glick), and "Mr. Beaver" in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Most recently he was "James Wilson of Pennsylvania" in 1776 at the Lazy Susan Dinner Theater. Special thanks as always to his wife Sue for all of her love and support.
G. Smith (Lovewit) has worked in local theatres for 20 years, including
Source Theater, Reston Community Players and Springfield Community Theatre. Favorite roles have included
"Victor" in Cat's-Paw, "Harry Roat" in
Wait Until Dark, "Starbuck" in The Rainmaker and "Claudio" in
Measure for Measure.

Ed Glick and Maggie Geuting also produce and host "Behind The Scenery" a weekly talk show on Reston Cable Channel 28 which airs on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Apart from the wild and crazy backstage anecdotes, it gives an insight into what the people listed in your theater program do to get a production onstage from auditions to opening night. Programs have included people from directors to designer to actors.
